Collective (DDC), a

dance company
founded in 1980,
performs unique

lecture
demonstrations
statewide. Young
folks’ concerts
(elementary through
high school)

“on stage.”
Choreography by
directors Barbara
Selinger and Paula
Kramer includes
video and photo
projections,
surprising set décor,
costumes and music.

nine dancers are

technically
stunning, energetic

Dance Ensemble
Artistic Director
Laurie Eisenhower
founded the
Eisenhower Dance
Ensemble (EDE),
Michigan’s
premier
contemporary dance
company, in 1991.
An eclectic and
versatile repertory
company with seven
dancers, the
ensemble boasts
works by Eisenhower
and other
internationally
known
choreographers. EDE
presents Kids in
Motion, an
exciting
lecture-demonstration
program for
elementary through
high school
students, and has
worked with school
districts
throughout the
state in residency
projects. EDE has
toured nationally
and to St.
Petersburg, Russia.
From classical
sophistication to
contemporary
vibrance, EDE’s
stunning
performances have
dazzled audiences
for a decade.

Happendance
Happendance, a
24-year-old
contemporary dance
company, provides
annual public
performances and
outreach education
programs. Under
strong artistic
leadership,
Happen-dance
concerts offer
original
choreography which
has broad appeal
and accessibility
to mature and new
audiences alike. In
addition, an
ongoing commitment
exists to include
themes of
importance to
society, whether it
is
nondiscrimination (Chicken
Lips, Sneetches),
preserving
threatened
rainforests
(Treasures in the
Treetops) or
protecting
threatened wildlife
such as wolves (Crepitant
Whispers). The
school-based
Lecture-Demonstration
Team purposefully
couples
children’s
literature and
dance with
appropriate music
and costuming (The
Paper Crane, Stellaluna).
